We only had 2 full days in the Lake District last month, and made an unplanned stop at Keswick Climbing Wall--www.keswickclimbingwall.co.uk.--near the Castlerigg Stone Circle. After visiting Castlerigg we were all hungry and we stopped because of the cafe sign (the cafe had just opened that day). After a hearty lunch we signed up for an archery lesson for one hour. Our teenagers enjoyed having a break from sightseeing, and bonded with the local instructor, swapping pet stories. And it still had beautiful scenery for the adults. It was a good part of a very enjoyable day.
