Lake Como to Paris

Hi
My husband, myself and an old school friend and my 40 year old (chauffeur) son are travelling through Europe in September. It is my friends first ever trip to Europe.
Our trip ATM looks like this: London (4) Paris (3 ) Bruges (2) Amsterdam (3) Bamberg (2) Munich (3) Saltzberg (2) Venice (3 ) Como (2)
This is my dilemma , We have 4 days to get from Como to Paris where my son and husband depart from. (After that my friend and I are going to train to Avignon for 4 days and do day trips to Nice ,Arles, and St Remi.)
How do we spend the 3 days plus travel on the 4 th day to Paris?
Do we do 3 days in Lyons? or 2 plus 1 day Colmar and Dijon? or 2 plus 1 day Lausanne Chamonix Annecy??

I would be really grateful for your ideas
Gail

I'm not sure what is the most practical driving route from Como to Paris--you can see what ViaMichelin.com recommends, but all the potential stops you mention are worthwhile.

Nice isn't a practical day trip from Avignon. It's about 3-1/2 hours each way by train.

My first thought is that if you do end up in Lyon, you should bid adieu to husband and son and let them drive to to Paris and fly home, while you and your friend head to Avignon. No reason you two have to ride to Paris then turn around and take a train to Avignon.

Seems like you will be renting the car as you leave Paris. I am sure you have considered the need for an IDP, an Austrian vignette and a Swiss vignette if you decide to cut through Switzerland. Parking in Amsterdam? Park outside of Munich because the car will not have a German environmental sticker. Park in the garage in Venice.

You've posted this in the Trip Reports forum, try posting it in the General Europe forum instead and you will get more answers.

And doing this trip entirely by car is a terrible idea.
