We currently live on Lago Maggiore and did a two day excursion on the Lago Maggiore Express pass. Rick's Italy book doesn't mention much on this lake except for Stresa and the nearby Borromeo islands.

I just took a quick look at this , and will spend more time later . My wife and I were recently in Stresa for five days , and visited a number of the places in your piece , certainly brought back memories . Thanks for this .
I have been to Lago Maggiore twice & it is beautiful!! Flew into Malpensa airport & stayed in Belgirate & Stresa. Loved all the little towns & the beautiful vistas. Driving can be quite the challenge on the narrow streets but enjoy the freedom of having a car. Drove to the top of the lake on the Swiss side & down the opposite side of the lake. Very serene & scenic!
