Its not Europe but..........British Columbia

Yesterday the rain not only broke the drought but caused us to push ahead our plant to visit Creston, British Columbia by a week. First on our sighseeing list was the Kokanee Brewery. The video at the end was GREAT! Canadian humor along the lines of Strange Brew. Then we drove to the Chatka restaurant. Polish food. Oh my, you have to try it. My lunch was the Polish plate: perogies, ham sausage slices, a nice cabbage roll, and sauerkraut with cabbage and bacon. Let me tell you, that was a meal. The milage up and back was 440. We left at eight in the morning and got back at eight-thirty in the evening. The border crossing officers each way couldn't believe we were going to Creston for the brewery tour and to eat Polish food. Silly boys. The American officer on the return found it hard to believe he was talking to two librarians. Everybody has a first time. He adopted a serious tone when I told him we were walking encyclopedias.

Oh yes, we have been to all those places. My wife was born and raised in North Van and all her relatives live in Alberta. She was just in Vancouver three weeks ago visiting an old friend. We've been on Vancouver Island too.

If you want to travel to more of Europe in south-east BC, go visit Trail. In the early 1900's this area was settled by many Italians - we've had some pretty good italian food in Trail!

We also love traveling to British Columbia. The people are great, even if they look at hockey instead of basketball.

Next trip, we'll go back to Victoria and try to see more of the island. And for a really big city, Vancouver is simply incredible.

Monte,

Sounds like you had a great visit to the Creston area. A good meal with Perogies along with some good beer sounds awesome! I'm assuming you had some sour cream with that also?

I'm not sure that type of meal would be good for my expanding waistline.

Cheers!
