Italy -Feb. 13-20 page 1

Before i share my trip report, i have to thank all of you for your wealth of knowledge. I have been " e- dropping" here for years and have enjoyed all
of your comments to questions that have applied to my trips. Like rick says, "travel like a local" makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
This was my third trip to italy and my girlfriends first. It was so enjoyable to see the same sites with her for the first time. She calls me her "boy-scout", because i am allways prepared . thanks again to the r.s. family.
Now, some of you might look at this trip as a whirlwind-too much in a week kind of report. We are both very athletic and i warned her about all the walking involved in traveling . I told her the sites we miss this trip are just another reason to come back !

" Honey, don't worry about those ice storms, we are traveling thru atlanta . .. nothing happens in atlanta" Well, after 2 flights getting canceled and having to change airlines, we arrived in venice the same day but about 7 hours later than planned.
day 1 - checked into hotel and bought a vaporreto pass . we took the #1 from the train station to st marks. They were setting up a massive stage at the end of st marks square for carnevale. We soaked up all the views at st .marks and walked the "tourist trail" to the rialto bridge. On the other side of the bridge, we wandered the streets looking for the a place to eat. We walked by this little hole-in-the-wall that was packed with locals and figured , " this will do".
