I highly recommend Rick's book on Istanbul. We stayed at My Suite Istanbul which he recommended and we were not disappointed. The apartments were safe, we'll stocked with cooking utensils and in the charming Cihangar area of the European section of Istanbul. His advise on what to see was spot on. I trust his advise completely.
