Bruges- We arrived via train after a change in Brussels. Thalys high speed from Nord to Midi station is very quick- just enough time to eat some breakfast and enjoy views of the French countryside. I like to use Loco2 to book trains, but here I used NMBS/SNCB directly and well in advance, as Loco2 doesn’t cover Belgium originating trains (next day’s ticket). A taxi to our hotel in old city center was clean and inexpensive, and the driver was very friendly. Hotel Cordoeanier allowed us to store bags in the back room, as we arrived around noon, and store the following day too, as our train didn’t leave until 4:00 PM. It was a nice place to stay- clean, convenient, and good beds. We really liked Bruges- great food, beer, and history. I recommend renting a bike and riding around the perimeter of the city on the crushed gravel path that connects to numerous bike paths to make a full loop. Finally, we arrived on a Sunday and left on a Monday, so it wasn’t that busy. Although some attractions were closed on Monday, the Belfort wasn't and I enjoyed the climb and the view.
