Some thoughts about our 17 days trip in June 2018 from Evansville, IN (EVV) to Europe. I’ll try to limit this to things that might be unique or different, and a few recommendations too.
London- We haven’t been in the city since ’98. It’s amazingly congested, even more so than I remember. We stayed in an Airbnb near Whitechapel station- nice hosts and clean, very good accommodations. It’s not a tourist location, but easily accessible for public transport and relatively close to city center. We used light rail, underground (subway), on-off tour bus, taxi, and feet to get around. On/off tour bus was a poor choice, as congestion made it faster to walk. At least the weather was beautiful and it’s nice up on the open top seeing many parts of the city. We really enjoyed Tower Bridge and the Globe Theater (great guide). A ferry on the Thames is always fun. Finally, we walked over to the Shard for a view of London. Use that city pass!
