Iceland

Just back from 10 day trip. Weather was gd at 45-55 deg. Very little rain. This is very rugged country. Expect natural wonders of waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers
Lots of sheep and beautiful icelandic horses on farms that u will pass by roadside. Realize it is quite xpensive for food, lodging etc. be prepared as we did not see any familiar fast fd chains. Supermarket Bonus brand is a gd bet for quick picnic style meals. Otherwise u will be surprised at cost of a sandwich at bakeries.
Buy any alcoholic beverages at duty free airport or govt run liquor stores only.
Prices at simple restaurants, bars will sting , for sure.
Even local fish n chips was quite pricey.i am used to London and switzerland but this surpasses that. I would recom Iceland
as a stop over to europe rather than a wks stay.

Can you tell me the average prices of a meal? And basic dairy products? Is it possible for vegetarian to survive? I've heard they eat fish and meat only...
Is it possible to buy soya products?
I know that there are strict limits about food imports.
And is there anyone who knows, whether it's cheaper to ,,rent'' a horse from private owner that from the stud?
