How Does US tourist Collect Claim from Spanish Post Office?

Does anyone have any experience collecting on a claim from Correos? I jumped through the hoops of filling out claim for lost package. Months later I get notice from Correos that they have a reimbursement for me for $160 euros. Only catch, I have to cash the postal money order in any Spanish Post Office AND it was to be sent to the address in Seville in which we were staying as tourists. FYI, they would ONLY allow an address from Spain to send a parcel, not your US address. I sent correspondence explaining, so a month later they say, ok you need a Spanish bank account or a bank account with an IBAN (international bank account number). I contacted Santander Bank in US and they do not have IBAN. They are a separate entity than Banco Santander. Wouldn't you know, the US does not participate in IBAN. Are there any other ways? Is this a topic for the US Embassy in Spain?

Plan another trip to Spain.

Some larger US banks can handle an IBAN transfer. You will have to ask around. There will be fees.

No, this is not a thing to bother the US Embassy about.

Are you certain there are US banks that have IBAN? Santander website says US does not participate in IBAN.

Chase does. YOU do not get an IBAN number which is the case for people in Europe, THEY have one and funnel all transfers through it. At least they did last time I needed IBAN.

Good luck.
