Hotel Leveque

I read Rick's report from his stay there a couple of years ago then I read the awfully bad reviews from March and April. Has anyone stayed there recently? I am going last minute, from 14-21 Sept. Leveque has one standard room available. There is also a studio on Rue de Beaune available. Does anyone have an opinion as to what would be the better option?

Look up trip advisor and also post this question on the To the West Section and might get an answer to your question.

I've seen the bad reviews too. We stayed there last July and had a very pleasant experience. The rooms are small but just like the rooms we've stayed in when in London, Rome, Munich, etc. Christopher at the front desk was very helpful with restaurant recommendations, booking reservations, arranging airport shuttle, answering questions. The location is great too. I would stay again based on our past experience.

I stayed a few years back. My option is there are WAY better Places to stay. While the location was great the hotel is a run down and could use a make over. I would stay again at the charming Champ de Mars. The owner is a little grumpy but the rooms are nice.

I just got back from Paris and stayed there last week for 3 nights. It was great! The room (#43) was clean and everything seemed to be new in the bathroom. Windows opened to a lovely view of the Rue and sounds of friendly chatter from the cafes and market booths. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I haven't read the bad reviews, but our stay was wonderful. I am not a seasoned European traveler, but I will stay there again.

I may be too late in giving you this information, but I would strongly advise against staying at Hotel Leveque! They charge you in FULL upon arrival, and then when you see your room and it is not anything like their web pictures, they refuse to allow you to "check back out" and refund your money. I am used to small hotel rooms in Europe, but this place is down right depressing! Very dim hall ways lead to rooms that have zero decorating, making them feel cramped and depressing. We booked a back side "superior" room that didn't even have room for our 2 suit cases - I mean no where to lay them at all. The window looked out to a wall 2 feet away, which I could have taken, if the room had any form of color, it was drab with not one thing on the walls along with the drab comforter on the awful bed. Also, the owner out right lies to you - she told us she didn't understand why our wi-fi didn't work in our room, and later that night the clerk told us that it never has worked there and that she lies to all the guests about many things. He said he fields complaints daily and hates working there. We ended up putting a bid in on priceline that same day, got a 4 star hotel (The Renissiance Trocodero) for $220US/night (they were advertizing rooms for around $450/night). Our room there was huge and gorgeous! We are still fighting through our credit card company to refund the Leveque charges, since we didn't even stay 1 night and they still charged us for all 4. Good Luck and have a great trip!

I haven't stayed recently, but four previous stays and was OK for the money and location; I just love it and feel like its home. Avoid the breakfast, go to near by bakery. Good location, near metro and Tour Eiffel, and their unique elevator is challenging.

It may be OK but there are many other better places in better locations. I find the area a little out of the way and dull.
