We are traveling to Spain in September and will spend 5 days in Barcelona and about 5 days in Seville. I am looking for recommendaions of unique villages to visit as a side/day trip from those locations. Thanks, Susan
Will you have a car? Many of those cute mountain villages are not well connected to public transportation. Perhaps you can look at a day tour with a guide with their own wheels?
Some American friends of mine took this tour while in town and they really liked it -

Planning to use public transportation but will consider renting a car if we find that is the only way to get to best villages.
Girona, easily reached by train, combines a picturesque setting with local history and good restaurants.

In that case, I would suggest Rupit, Queralbs, Castellfollit de la Roca, Miravet, or Cadaqués for unique villages nearish to Barcelona.
