Still on a high from a great trip to the Southwest of Ireland with Wolfhound Tours. I am an experienced traveler, but until now I had mostly done the fly to destination, stay in a hotel and go to museums or other historic sites. This time, I really got to experience the country I was visiting. Unlike the people in the huge coaches we passed every day, we got to get out of the minivan, hike and/or bike in the beautiful countryside and interact with locals every day. Dave, the owner/operator of Wolfhound, knows the history, culture and enivroment of Ireland intimately. Even though the weather was quite a bit cooler and wild than he expected, we still made the most out of every day. Whether it was picnicking on the grounds of abbey ruins or watching for whales and dolphins on a high bluff, every day was a revelation. I am definitely going to take another trip with Wolfhound and more importantly, am going to try to incorporate similar activities into my future travels around Europe.
