No need to discuss the mechanics of doing the Rodin. That is well described in RS book. After the visit, turn right and walk down Rue de Varenne to Rue du Bac. At #93 is La Patisserie des Reves. Their specialty is Paris-Brest, chou pastry with hazelnut cream filling. Yum. I loved their brioche too, light and crispy, my favorite of all the pastries I had in Paris. My husband loved the madelines. We bought a bag of cat's tongue cookies to snack back at the hotel. So good, thin, crisp and buttery. If we had more time, I would have returned to try more. At #109 is Le Bac a Glaces for ice cream. It is favorably reviewed on Parisbymouth, but sadly for us, it was closed for August. Someone else will have to do their duty and report back for us. Continue on down Rue du Bac to Bon Marche-a foodie's heaven. There are foods from many countries and prepared foods to go. Perfect place to pick something up for a picnic. There is a hugh section just with foie gras. My kind of supermarket. Turn down to Rue du Cherche-Midi to #8 Poilane and Cuisine de Bar. These are mentioned in RS in the shopping section. Cuisine de Bar is a great place for lunch. The set lunch menu is 13.50 euros. You get a choice of water/wine, soup/salad, two slices of open faced sandwich, and tea/coffee that comes with a cookie in the shape of a spoon. The food is very good. Besides us, there was a table with two Japanese ladies. All the other parties were French. The staff speaks English and the menu is in English. Service was good. We did go into Poilane to look at the bread, but was too full from lunch to even think of buying any.

Hi, Susan Thanks for your nice comments. We went to Barcelona after Paris. Food not as wonderful in general, but we found a fantastic bakery, Escriba, which is listed in RS on La Rambla. But we went to the flagship on Gran Via. My husband felt their almond croissant was better than anything he had in Paris!

I have no doubt I could find many things I'd like in Spain.. that almond croissant sounds good.. but for me, there's no place like Paris on every level, food being one of them.. :)
