My sister and her husband went with my husband and myself on a great trip to Germany and Salzburg. One of the reasons our trip was so good was the terrific tour guides recommended by Rick Steves' in his book.
When we were in Munich, we had a great time with Bridgit Stempfle. We shared 3 of our vacation days with her going to Dachau, Nueschwanstein Castle and a Munich City Tour. She is very friendly, informative and helpful. Since we were unfamiliar with the trains in Germany, she provided us with very helpful instructions on purchasing tickets and riding the trains. She is very warm and was so much fun to be with!
In Salzburg, we had the opportunity to spend a half day with Anna Stellnberger. She gave us a good history lesson of Salzburg and the Hohensalzburg and other sites. She was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and seemed to love her job!
Our final guide in Berlin was Bernhard Schlegelmilch. He was outstanding! He was so prepared even providing maps explaining the history of Germany and Berlin. Since he lived East Berlin before the fall of the Wall, he had wonderful personal and poignant stories of that time. We had scheduled 5 hours with him but ended up extending our time with him. We all learned so much from him!
All of the guides had good recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Thank you, Rick Steves!
