Fun new Troll Museum in Bergen, Norway

My wife and I were recently in Bergen and stumbled across The Troll Museum, located on a side street near St. Mary's Church. It has only been open 3 weeks. We were expecting something kitschy, but it is a fascinating presentation of how trolls and other mythical creatures figure in Norse mythology. We learned how they show up in Norwegian culture, from folk tales to the work of icons like Ibsen and Grieg, We even learned why Santa Claus wears a red floppy hat (which was forbidden during Nazi occupation). The museum appeals to all ages. It takes advantage of technology to provide lots of interactive displays. You can take a selfie with a troll. A great blend of fun and learning.

How fun! I went to the troll museum in Tromso - not astounding but fun! I would add the one in Bergen to my list. :)

Thanks for the notice! I wish it had been there a year ago. I enjoyed the Troll Forest above Bergen - would have liked to have added the Museum. It sounds like a reason for a return trip!
