Visited CPH in early August with the RS guidebook in hand. Book recommends the Netto-Badene boat tour of the harbor with just one triangle rating--it is much better than that! Using the also recommended Copenhagen Card, fare was included. Received a well narrated, in English, hour ride around the harbor, including the canal through Christianshavn. Very enjoyable--take it and ignore the rest of the boat tours. National Museum (free!) is definitely a "don't miss" site. All three of the in town castles/palaces are worth your time with Rosenborg Castle probably the most interesting. Out of town, the Frederiksborg Castle, is less than an hour away by train and bus and well worth the visit-- a very large and imposing structure with a lovely terraced garden behind. Rick also recommends Kanal Cafeen for a meal. I do NOT recommend. They invite customers to sit anywhere, then if you sit by the waterside, they move you to the opposite end of the row of tables, saying the rail side tables were reserved--though nothing shows that. They did this repeatedly for tourists like us, but let locals sit in the so called "reserved" tables when they showed up--rude. Also server would not take a 500DK bill to pay for a check that was about 1/2 of that amount--this was even after the lunch rush was over--more rudeness. There are many other choices for lunch, like Flax & Beets at Toldbodgade 14, just north of Nyhavn--great food and service!
