I started planning this European vacation several years ago. We waited until our daughter turned 13 to take this trip, I posted questions about a suggested itinerary on this website a couple of times prior to the trip. I wanted to visit several European cities in 2 weeks due to the fact that our family may never have the chance to take another European vacation. Most folks told me that my plans were much too ambitious. Our final itinerary was 2 days in Liverpool, 3 days in London, 2 days in Amsterdam, 4 days in Paris, and 2 days in Venice. We flew into Manchester and flew home from Venice. We traveled from one city to another by train.
The trip was fantastic. Liverpool was part of the itinerary because I wanted to see a Liverpool soccer game. My daughter, who is not a football (soccer) fan said that Liverpool was her favorite city on the trip. The people in the city that we met were exceptionally nice. She also liked the Beatles tour even though she was not a Beatles fan.
All the other cities were great too. We saw two major attractions each day and that was doable. The only thing that we had to adjust was our planned choices for lunch - we often had to choose different restaurants than planned due to time concerns.
This is not to say that the two weeks were without challenges. Our train plans from Paris to Venice were effected by a landslide in southern France. The Paris-Milan portion was refunded was refunded but the Milan-Venice portion was not because it was a different operator. I had to plan and purchase a new entire new route and trip from Paris to Venice.
As expected, our itinerary did nit include much time for rest and relaxation. But we got to see and do a tremendous lot of things in two weeks, Our plan is not for everyone, but it certainly worked for us, If anyone wants to know more about our trip, feel free to contact me. I have many tips to share (restaurants, hotels, attractions, etc.) along with amusing tales.
