Excellent museum in Rome - Galleria Doria Pamphilj

And very close to Albergo Santa Chiara, which is recommended in other threads

Extensive, varied painting and sculpture collection
Interesting family history and home - do the audio guide
Even walls and ceilings are something to look at!
Chairs spread out in different rooms for a rest
Good AC

Anither yes! We visited there on a whim, we were walking by and had some time. So beautiful and the family still lives there. It gives you a glimpse of what is behind all those large facades and how the rich back then hid their wealth.

Another big yes for this recommended site. Visited there this past April. Like Barbara we happened to be walking by, in no rush, saw the entrance, and recognized it as a place I had seen on Instagram with beautiful photos. so we decided to go in. Very near to the Vittorio Emanuele II monument.

Well worth the visit, beautiful place and not well known, it seems. Grateful to the Sicilian who recommended it.

I agree. And another museum just up the same street is Museo del Corso Palazzo Cipolla. I stopped in there last May during a hot day, and the displays & architecture information were fascinating.

We went through the Galleria Doria Pamphilj back in 2014. It must not have been advertised because we had each room to ourselves!

What a wonderful museum! Be sure to get the audioguide; it adds so much.
