My wife and I were in England June 6-16, our first trip overseas and now having just returned to the US over the weekend. We flew into London but began our trip in Bath (the Apsley House Hotel is highly recommended) and loved this very livable city despite the awful weather upon arrival. I think the Abbey there is vastly underrated and the Roman Baths somewhat overrated frankly. The next day we drove to the Cotswolds and enjoyed Chipping Campden and Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter. The weather cooperated a bit more and allowed for some hiking between the Slaughters (easy, short walk through pastures). RS has a great Chipping Campden walk that is well worth the effort, most notably the adorable church on the end of town. Eight Bells Pub for lunch (a RS recommedation) was atmospheric and had good food and ales.
