Edam, The Nethland

I have just returned from visiting my daughter and husband in the The Netherlands. I opted to get my own place for a week, and happened on to an adorable cottage (HomeAway.com)in Edam. Edam is like a place out of a fairytale, but with modern amenities. Lots of canals, bridges, shops, groceries, and even a museum in a 16th century merchants home. The bus station is on the perimeter, easy walking distance from anywhere in town, and one can easily get to Amsterdam Central or one of the beach towns nearby. One can also rent bikes and tour the area on 2 wheels. Edam has it's own little beach/camping area about a mile out of town. It has 2 restaurants, one is on the shore. A vacation from your vacation, as Rick says.
