I visited the UK a few months ago traveling from London to Manchester and Durham. Mostly visiting my family and other related events. On my last day in Durham I finally decided to follow Rick's advice and hire a local guide. I did not have a car and wanted to visit the Durham Dales. I reached out to the local tourist office and they put me in touch with a private Guide, David Waite. His company, Guiding You, offers guide services throughout England. David is actually living near Durham and offered to pick me up at my hotel in his van. He is very experienced and actually trains other guides. The entire day was fantastic and gave me an opportunity to see and learn about parts of the area I have never seen even though i have been there many times. Highly recommended.
