I so appreciate all the folks that post reviews here. I was headed to Ireland and was going to have a couple extra days around the Dublin Horse Show and so searched the forums for things to see. I had already been to Dublin and seen the Kilmainham Gaol (great!), the Book of Kells (so-so) and the The Little Museum of Dublin (good). After reading reviews online, this year I did a walking tour with Historical Walking Tours of Dublin, https://historicaltours.ie/. Our guide, Owen, was fabulous. I was concerned we would have trouble hearing him on the crowded streets, but he carefully chose his spots to stop and came through loud and clear. The tour was nicely paced and incredibly informative. I highly recommend it. On Sunday afternoon we did the Rural Pub Tour, https://ruraltours.ie/. Our guide, Shane, was knowledgeable about local beers, whiskeys and gins and gave informative talks between pubs. The pubs (three were included on the afternoon tour) all had a different ambience but were all interesting. This was a nice way to get out of Dublin for the afternoon.
The other sights worth noting were Christ Church - well worth a tour - and the Chester Beatty Library at Dublin Castle, https://www.chesterbeatty.ie/. The library is free, no waiting in line and has a mind boggling collection of artifacts. My recommendation is to skip the Book of Kells and go to the Chester Beatty Library. The cafe located there is a good lunch stop.
Thanks to all that post about their travel experiences. We all benefit through sharing!
