Bonjour Mark,
Thank you. I was using my ancient but trusty Nikon D7000. Mrs Z was using her much lighter Nikon Z50. But did you notice the overexposure/contrast issues throughout on some/my shots? Apparently those D7000 models are notorious for having difficulty eventually with extreme whites and it gets worse til they die. That was exactly the case this past winter while we were snowbirding in Antibes. The camera overexposed constantly til finally dying during an important festival in Vallauris-Golfe-Juan. As a technopeasant, I really struggle with technology, so the sudden demise baffled me.

Will be replacing it next week with one from the new Nikon Z series (Z611)--that name has a certain ring to it, yeah?
I am done. The end.

Your photography is stunning! I love photos that really do tell the story.

Your timing is perfect. I’ve been mulling some options for France in May/June 2027 to complement my other 2027 trip for a 1-week pastel art class in Italy later in September. Something like beginning in Bruges & Ghent and either heading back to the French chateau region or into Provence and ending at either Montpellier or returning to Nice.

My one big purchase in college in the 70’s was a completely manual Nikon. Sadly, it was stolen from our home in Washington several years later. The replacement just never felt the same in my hands. Hopefully your new replacement works out much better!

I never got past the brilliant compositions on initial viewing. But I would take the issues you describe over garish iPhone color anytime.

Laurie Beth, you are welcome--again. The Loire valley is quite visual and bringing sketchbooks or art brushes would serve one well.
Jean, merci beaucoup aussi. My wife's original camera was also a completely manual Nikon. As for your upcoming itinerary, the Loire's less-trodden corners would be a superb choice: Montresor comes to mind. Loches too.
Patty Steilacoom, you too are most welcome. Our latest installment was just posted in that same TR, after some tech difficulties (an entire morning's worth of prep work was accidentally wiped out= argh!)

I am done. the douceur

Merci PBS et aussi Sanda! Where to next everyone?
We are all so lucky to be able to travel, yeah? So many folks are unable to do so for all kinds of reasons.
And in less fortunate countries, international travel is but a dream...
