Blair Castle and gardens, Dunkeld and the River Tay. Site of Beatrix Potter home, St Andrew’s then Edinburgh(very crowded castle and the Royal Mile. Book this now! May is wonderful time to visit. So many Bluebells!
I'm assuming this was the Rick Steves' Scotland tour you took? Sounds fabulous, but I am wondering if you felt that you had enough time on your own to do some extra exploring, and how were the meals?
Yes, RS tour, and yes plenty of down time! 50% meals, and two of us had to be gluten free, one was vegetarian. Great accommodations! Every hotel served breakfast, most were made to order! Some folks did not do all the excursions, one couple took the boat to see the Puffins when we were in Oban.
Thanks for sharing, it sounds like you had a great tour. I keep reading about Scotland and everyone seems to love it. I’ve done 12 RS tours and love them and looking forward to #13 in October, Best of Germany. Food has always been good and the balance of time on your own vs group events seems very well managed for anyone wondering about their tours in general.
Couldn’t agree more. Our bodies now solidly returned to Pacific time zone now that we’ve been back a week. (We did the 13 day tour beginning May 17).
So glad to have the tour. We would’ve missed out on so much information that brought all the history to life like no book or audio guide can. This was a special anniversary trip and a dream come true.
