We spent one night at the Castlewood House. Breakfast is served beginning 8:30 a.m. In the morning, there were about eight couples waiting for the doors to open into the breakfast room. After being served our coffe and tea, my porridge came about 30 minutes later, and our full breakfast was finally served one hour later. The eggs and bacon were cold and over cooked. We chose this location because they were given a positive review from Rick Steves. However, we were very disappointed in the overall price and service.
I am so surprised that this was your experience. I stayed here on a Rick Steves' tour in 2018 and it was the absolute perfect experience. My room was outstanding and our breakfasts were the best I'd had in all of the UK. I especially remember the salmon benedict I had which was delicious.
I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. For anyone else planning a trip to Dingle, my husband and I stayed in the Dingle Benners Hotel in the summer of 2018, another RS recommended hotel. It was lovely, including the included breakfast which was promptly served, and located right on Main street; walking distance to all the pubs, restaurants, sights and shops in Dingle.
While on an RS tour in Dingle, a few of us were relegated to a B & B that was never used but next to one owned by an RS guide. That's where most of the group stayed.
This was October and the end of the season. We woke to a freezing cold room. No heat. Somehow we managed to shower and dress. Went down to breakfast. There was no one. The family overslept, forgot to turn on the heat, and we got no breakfast.
When we met the group at the other B & B for departure, we were told we could have come there for breakfast. How were we supposed to know?
When I asked why we didn't stay at the regular B & B's where the tour stayed, we were told they weren't available.
I checked. They were available. The tour company just wanted to send business to their guide as the season was winding down.
As for centrally located....nope. Our guide arranged for taxis to take us back to the B & B because it was too dark to walk at night.
