Any thoughts on going to Madrid to get to the Camino now? Is it safe? Best ways to get to st jean? Hear that in spain there are travel advisory.

2024 - I flew on a domestic airline to Pamplona from Madrid and stayed there a few nights and then shared a taxi to St. Jean with a couple from Canada. They posted on a Camino facebook website looking for a ride share…. Flight was inexpensive and my share of the ride was 50 euro which included a tip for the driver. There are plenty of taxis willing to drive you to St Jean from Pamplona. I had my hotel book the taxi for me.

Why would travel to Spain not be safe?
If by travel advisory you are referring to the US state department, well, it puts most of Europe at a similar "risk" rating to South Africa. So it's a load of nonsense.
