Anyone have a suggestion on a Budapest synagogue tour?
We were in Budapest in August as part of a Grand Circle Danube River Cruise. We visited the Grand Synagogue. The tour guide we had was called Steven and was absolutely the best guide. Men should be prepared with a head covering otherwise a cardboard hat will be provided. Women should have shoulders covered. It is amazing. Some days are unavailable so we were very lucky to see it. You should visit both synagogues and pass thru the ghetto as well.
I’m in Budapest now and went on a tour of the Dohany Street Synagogue given by the synagogue. There are frequent tours in many languages. We were there Thursday afternoon and had no trouble getting in.
We took one of the "Free Tours" advertised online. The tour guides are licensed and work for tips. They also offer nightlife or pub crawl tours at night, and we took one of those. To say we had a ball is an understatement.
We find Budapest to be one of our favorite cities, and it's very reasonably priced. The young adults are very hip and love to practice their English. It's one of the best party cities anywhere with their ruin pubs.
If you go to the home page of the Dohany utca (Great) Synagogue or the Rumbach Synagogue, they will direct you here for tours: https://jewishtourhungary.com/en/cart I've done the long Sunday tour and both of the individual tours. It has been a few years. They were well done tours.
Thanks everyone. You're all a big help!!

Lets try and not promote that too much .... or at least lets say that District VII is one of the best party districts in any city. Which I appreciate as it spares the rest of the city from the ..... nvm
