I went to see Monet's house and garden today; I took the train to Vernon Giverny and then the shuttle bus from the train station to the house. This was a great experience. I then went to Rouen just to see the cathedral Monet painted many times. Here are some photos to give you all an idea of what things are like in late October. Feel free to ask questions.

Jazz,
Thanks for sharing your pictures! I have been to Rouen, but not Giverny.
Yes beautiful photos! We were there a few days ago in the dripping rain, so nice to see it in clearer skies
Lovely pictures and I appreciate seeing them from this time of year, since WHEN I go has been a question for me. Thank you.
Thanks, Jazz. We'll be in France next year just about this time, so I appreciate the photos.
And glad to know about the shuttle to Monet's house. We were there a couple of years ago on a holiday, and it was so packed we couldn't enjoy the experience. We're hoping to try again another time. Was it horribly crowded for you today?
Nice pictures. We see some of the flowers are still in bloom. And it doesn’t look too cold.
Ah, so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your photos to jog memories!
Where did you eat in Rouen?
Did you go to any museums in Rouen?
I'll be there in a few weeks for a break from Paris.
Also, I highly recommend when taking the TER Normandy trains to buy a first class ticket, and to have a mask in general you can put on if you hear coughing on trains during the fall winter cold season. I was in Europe in May this year and did not hear as much coughing as I do now.
Was it horribly crowded for you today?
No, I got there at 9:45, 15 minutes after it opened.
It takes about 1 hour to visit the house and garden maybe longer if the wooden benches you can sit on through out the garden are dry (it rained a lot the day before). Maybe it has something to do with October being off season. It had been raining most of the day before and overnight so things were pretty wet. The tour groups I noticed after 10:30.

After doing research beforehand and I just planned to see the old town and the cathedral.
I am writing this not to be argumentative, but to relieve anyone feeling angst after reading the above post regarding current coughing levels on Normandy TER trains. I have just returned from two weeks of extensive TER Normandy and Loire train riding. All 2nd class. I heard no excessive coughing and saw virtually no masks.
I am not suggesting that Janet is over reacting or that her experience was not as she described or that her advice is not one to consider for one’s personal situation.
I just want to assure those who prefer to go maskless that this is the norm. People can make their own decisions based on their age, health, comfort level.
Thanks for the beautiful pics, Jazz! I visited Giverny in October two years ago, and your post really takes me back.
