Anyone have experience traveling in the South of France in late April? We are flying into Lyon and out of Nice next Spring. Any advice is appreciated. We are spending a week in the Rhone in between.
Hopefully you can spend time in Nice and it’s surrounding area too. It is one of our favorite
destinations.
Train from Avignon to Nice.
I did the opposite route last fall. I was in Nice & traveled to Aix en Provence via train (change in Marseilles.) After a couple days in that lovely town I took the bus to Avignon. In spite of catching covid last fall in France, I managed to have a great time.
There's a direct train from Avignon to Nice (3h 30m): https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/.
We had a a rental car and drove. Super easy once you get out of Nice itself. Parking in Avignon was easy, and the RS France Guidebook was very helpful all around.
