Best of Italy RS Tour. Dolomites

Anyone know which village or town is the typical location for the Dolomite segment of the Best of Italy tour?
Any good planning resources to help plan for the “free day” of the tour in the Dolomites?

I want to try to have a few options for the free time on each stop to optimize our itinerary.

I always thought it was Castlerotto. Maybe it has changed but that was it for a long time,

You will know your hotel 30 days before your tour starts. We were in Castelrotto, other tours have stayed up higher in the meadow. Dependo. Our tour bus took us up to the meadow on our free day. Most of the group walked around the meadow with the guide. The rest of us hiked some of the trails higher up and took a local bus back. The guide had given us bus passes.

I agree with Margie that "it depends". I also stayed in Castelrotto as well. On the free day the tour bus will take you to the Seiser Alm, the guide will orient you and off you go. There are some times of year the tour bus can't go up there and in that instance the guide and driver will take you to the gondola. There are some tour departures that stay at the hotel up at Seiser Alm and they can just step out their front door, lol.

I am a big planner for free time and on this particular day, I'd recommend you just see what the guide is planning.

We just returned from the Best of Italy tour. We stayed in the town on Bolzano. Lovely town but don’t skip the hike in the Alps! Great tour btw!
