Much construction in Berlin Mitte. If you visit the Reichstag Dome and then walk to the Brandenburg Tor, there are barriers due to construction. The usual route to the Brandenburg gate is blocked. Behind the Brandenburg Tor there are construction cranes (which could spoil your photo) If you walk down Unter den Linden, you will not see the American embassy. There are construction fences around the Russian Embassy and you will have to walk out in the street. We saw about 10 protesters in front of the Russian embassy.
In the center island. After that Unter den Linden walk is as usual.

Good warning! The area we usually stay is in the construction zone.

Thanks for the warning. I head back to Berlin in a few days. Luckily, I've spent plenty of time around the Brandenburg Gate area so no need to visit it again.
I might have but now I'll think twice.
