Barcelona, Sept/Oct ‘24

Given the ongoing drought & animosity demonstrated towards tourists in Barcelona, should we pivot to another city for our 25th wedding anniversary? (Headed to Spain late Sept ‘24 & originally planned to stay in Madrid & Barcelona.) With our 8 day trip, should we pivot to Madrid & Sevilla instead?

Hi Shelly, welcome to the forum!
I encourage you to go to the Spain travel page:
https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/spain
to peruse some of the conversations occurring about this issue over there.
This page is for trip reports, and you may get responses here, but much more over there.

I wish I knew a good answer for you, but unfortunately Sevilla has been having similar problems. Are you likely to encounter a problem in either city? Probably not! Would it maybe give me slight pause? I can't say it would not.
I vastly vastly (cannot overstate) prefer staying in rental apartments when I travel, that I cannot deny. But maybe when I go to Spain next, I might reconsider since it seems to be the crux of the matter. As to where to go, I can't help on that decision--it's a tough one.

Thank you—my apologies—I initially thought I was posting in the travel forum but somehow ended up in trip reports. My attempt to relocate conversation resulted in error because of my initial post. Any suggestions are welcome.

I think you should be able to post the same thing over there, but not sure. Hopefully a moderator will pop in and help!
Anyway, just reading what has been discussed there might be helpful in the meantime--good luck!
