Amsterdam - Vermeer and Van Gogh

Sitting in Schipol airport waiting for my flight back home after three weeks in Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.

If you have Vermeer tickets, the exhibition is excellent. The paintings are arranged with 2 or 3 in a room with each room having a specific aspect of Vermeer’s career. However, it will take patience to see and experience all the exhibition has too offer as there will be a large crowd.

Additionally, get tickets to the Van Gogh Museum. It is excellent as well . There museum is arranged over three floors from his early to late career. There is also a temporary exhibit with more details of his life and how the Van Gogh Museum came to be. Get tickets in advance!

Thanks for whetting the appetites of those of us who have tickets and are eagerly awaiting our travel time!

Did you do the Rijks/Vermeer and Van Gogh on the same day? Did you use the QR code before you entered the main Vermeer exhibition?

How was your experience at Schiphol?

Sorry for all the questions...I must have had too much coffee this morning while you are over the ocean, lol!

Although I am not attending the exhibit (sigh), I am living vicariously! Thanks for suggesting the Van Gogh Museum. I agree, it is a wonderful addition to the museum experience in Amsterdam. We stayed in the Museumplein in 2019 and it was just a short walk to both Museums. In order to devote enough time to both Museums we chose to visit the museums on different days. We like to take our time and hate to miss anything. Lol. I understand some people are going x2 to the Vermeer Exhibit. Smart.

Pam,
Rijks and Van Gogh on two different days. I had plenty of time and prefer one in-depth museum visit per day.

Schipol was easy. Sure there were lines, but did airline, security and passport in less than an hour.

Pam,

Forgot to add. They form two entry lines at Rijks. One for Vermeer and one for just the Rijks. Once inside you are really just in the Rijks. Same coat check, lockers, etc. You get a blue wristband for Vermeer and follow a blue path thru the museum to Vermeer. It appears that you can come and go as long as you have the wristband on. Also, for anyone with children, they had an activity for kids to do.

Oh gosh, thank you for the extra information. I might like the kids activity, lol.

Good to know how you did it. I’ve done the Rijks and Van Gogh on the same day before because of the proximity. This year I’m staying in the Museumplein area so am considering breaking them up because it’s a lot for my brain in one day, lol.
