Stayed at The Hotel Bellevue in Amboise, France from the guidebook. The hotel had a good location on a very busy street but had good windows to block out the noise. Good view of the sunset over The Loire River. Decent double room and breakfast. The room floor was filthy so we asked them to clean it and they did. The bathroom had a terrible sewer gas smell due to poor plumbing. We had to cover the drains with wet towels or close the bathroom door. We had room 19.

My wife and I did NOT have a good experience at this hotel when we took the RS HOF tour a couple of years ago.
We both caught COVID and had to unfortunately drop out of the tour. (FWIW, we were treated wonderfully by our guide and were issued a hassle free pro-rated refund). Ergo, we had to extend our stay a couple of days to recover. We were told there were no rooms available to us, although we promptly booked one online via their web site.
We then had to make arrangements for a 6 AM taxi to catch the train to Paris. The clerks showed NO incentive whatsoever in helping us find transportation. Fortunately, the local Amboise tourist board knew a local cab driver that agreed to take us.
The rooms were nice and clean, great location, but the overall feeling was that some (but not all) of the staff had a non caring attitude about our plight and hung us out to dry.
