The hike down from Murren to Lauterbrunnen is absolutely breathtaking and I would highly recommend it. You could then walk the valley floor of Lauterbrunnen and visit the falls located there too.
From Lauterbrunnen take the little train to the Kleine Scheidegg area that looks out over Grindelwald and there is a hike down to the village (which was closed when I was there in early June due to snow).
You need at least 2 days to experience these places in my opinion. Consider staying in Lauterbrunnen or Wengen (lovely!) overnight.

Very late in the day, I am sorry I did not see this sooner. You can hit both villages but not do too much. I would suggest

  • take the train to Grindelwald
  • Take the Eigergletscher cable car to Eigergletscher then the train to Kleine Scheidegg
  • Change trains and ride Kleine Scheidegg to Lauterbrunnen. Stop in Wengen if you have time.
  • In Lauterbrunnen, walk out to the falls
  • Train back to Interlaken

This is a nice overview of the area but shallow. Not much time to hike. Walking DOWN from the high villages to the valley floor is hard on the knees so the prior advice depends on how you feel about that.

If you have more time, there is a lovely hike from Grütschalp just above Lauterbrunnen to Mürren. Then you ride down at Stechelberg on the cable car. Hardly any time to also go to Grindelwald…

If it were me (and I wish it were) I'd skip Grindelwald, and concentrate on Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Gimmelwald and Schilthorn.

Yes. Concentrate on having a good day, not on trying to get as many instagram posts as possible.

Go to Grindelwald and explore what it has to offer, or to Lauterbrunnen.
