We just got back from a trip to the Amalfi Coast. We started our trip in Salerno. We stayed at the most wonderful bed & breakfast. If you are traveling there, I highly recommend staying at Seaview B & B. We were treated like family. The owners picked us up at the airport and when we arrived at the b & b after our long travels we were greeted with freshly squeezed orange juice on a rooftop patio that was like an oasis. A couple of nights we sat on the lovely terrace talking with the owners and learning a lot about everyday living in that part of Italy (a real backdoor experience). Salerno is a good home base for Paestum and Pompeii. It is also a less crowded way to get to the Amalfi Coast because most people begin in Salerno. We spend a couple of days on Ischia which was a lovely laid back island.
