Just so you know, you posted your query under the "Trip Reports" section, which is intended to provide feedback to other travelers on a trip you already took. You will probably get more responses if you post under the "Germany", "Switzerland" or "Austria" sections.
That being said, most of us find Mr. Steves' suggested itineraries entirely too rushed. As I understand, he bases them on his bus tours. But there's a huge difference in touring if you must arrange all of your logistics, versus a tour where everything is already set for you.
