Traveled to Nimes on 09/29 by auto. There was easy parking in city center under town square. We ate lunch at Le Printemps Brasserie just past the carousel off the square. Service and food were excellent. At this time the arena is undergoing restoration and much of interior and exterior are covered. While walking around the town, we got turned around and headed SW on Rue de la Republique. After realizing we were headed off course, we were returning to the arena when we were confronted by a group of street toughs outside BAR DE SPORTS AT #3 Rue de la Republique. They seemed to be under the direction of the proprietor/owner of the BAR. Their mission seemed to be to drive us from the area. Nothing physical, but definitely intimidating. We retreated to the square where there were more people around. Just be aware of your surroundings.
