Eurostar

We recently took the Eurostar from Paris to London. The tickets advised checking in 30 min ahead of the train departure, so we went upstairs 45 minutes before departure. There were long lines, particularly @ British customs, and by the time we got to the boarding area (15 min before scheduled departure), we were not allowed to board and were put on the next train. So, we would advise allowing 1 hour and going directly upstairs @ Gare du Nord and waiting in the specific Eurostar lounge. We had arrived at the station early and sat downstairs and had coffee and croissants............

There is food (Paul's) and snack bars in the waiting areas for Eurostar. Try to arrive an hour early at the check-in. Passport control seems to take longer than it used to, but the whole process is very organized. About every half hour a train leaves the station; wait for yours. Overhead monitors announce gates and boarding times. Make your way to your train and car with the crowd.
