10 Day Northern Lights Winter Self Drive of Iceland’s South Coast – “Guide to Iceland”

Iceland is a beautiful country and my wife, and I had a great time. However, the tour company has communication problems that made our trip difficult at times and very frustrating. I found out that Guide to Iceland does not answer emails on a timely basis to say the least. Nor do they answer messages via their Facebook page. And phone calls are rather expensive to Iceland, but I had no other choice. They also booked our Blue Lagoon tour for 9:00 in the morning barely enough time to get off the plane, get our transportation and check into our hotel. So we changed the time to 2:00 in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the address they give when put into our GPS in the rental car took us on a hours long journey far away from our destination. We rescheduled for the next day. This was to be a recurring problem with Guide to Iceland in terms giving us addresses that did not work in the GPS of the vehicle they rented to us. They also never told us where to get our Antigen test for COVID for the trip back home; I had to figure that our for myself including the location. We were staying in Reykjavik which has a clinic, but she instructed us to go to Keflavik on the way to the airport? No address or directions and she didn’t know whether it should be a Rapid Antigen or PCR. Also, since our trip there has never been a follow up asking how our trip was. Most of the hotels we stayed at were very nice and the rental car was good (except for the GPS). The bottom line is their communication is poor, some of the items on the itinerary is misspelled which causes finding places difficult and their addresses listed do not work for the most part in the auto GPS or in Google maps. I think they are understaffed and just don’t care.

No, it was cloudy and raining most of the time we were there. Despite not seeing the northern lights we still had a good time.
