Travelling Germany - Trier and the Blackforest July 28 till August 4th

Hello travellers,

I'm a 47y/o Australian male travelling from and back to Frankfurt, Germany on the dates listed in the title. I'm writing here to sense check potential travel companion interest, male or female, for all or part of this trip - I'm also open to itinerary detours should a gem of a town be identified or we wish to stay someplace a day longer.

I enjoy history (Trier) and nature (The Blackforest), I intend to travel partly by train and will also look to rent a car so I can see a bit more of The Blackforest. I usually stay in mid-range accommodation so I can spend a bit more on better food and drink - that could be a picnic or a nice restaurant.

Drop me a line if you are interested or have a question.

Thank you,

Matt.

Matt,

I'm not a potential travel partner for you, but if you've not been to those regions before you're in for a treat. On my first European trip years ago I biked from Luxemburg City to Koblenz through the lovely Mosel River Valley. My enduring memories are of steep vineyards on the left and many inviting villages on the right. Stella Artois and campgrounds were everywhere! I was probably the only one sleeping in a tent. And the Black Forest indeed lives up to its name.

Enjoy!

If you stay inside Germany your route will run through Neustadt on the Winestrasse. You may want to get off there. Or, if you're into castles and caves, visit Homburg. Or, if you're into celtic history, and airplanes, cars, trains, boats, etc. make sure you stop in Speyer.

Don't miss the huge collection of Roman mosaics in the Trier Landesmuseum.
