Rick Steves solo travelers on Best of Paris 5/23-5/29

Hey there! I am signed up for the Best of Paris trip starting on Monday 5/23. The tour roster came out on 4/23 and there are 5 other solo travelers on this tour. Yeah!!!!! Sooo - hoping against hope some of you guys check this forum before you head off. I’m arriving on Friday 5/20 and am going to hit some of the stuff we won’t get to in the tour, including Napoleons Tomb, Jacquemart-Andre Museum, Skip the Line Eiffel Tower, and Arc de Triumph. Also a bike tour!

If anyone is coming early and wants to hang out let me know.

I hope you get a response. It may be hard to focus in on just 5 people who may not even use the travel forum. I did want to mention that you could certainly expand your thinking to include any other tour members. I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Hi Carol,

For sure its a long shot that anyone going will check out the forum. I singled out the singles cause they are generally more open to hanging with a stranger. The coupled up tend to be content among themselves.

For what its worth - I also reached out to Rick Steves tour planners asking them to forward my contact info to the other travelers to see if they want to meet up pre-tour. Not sure if that falls outside their comfort zone or not. This was another option.

If it happens it happens, if not - c'est la vie.

Cheers!

If things fall at the right time of day have lunch or at least a dessert at the Jacquemart-Andre Cafe. It’s a little pricy but the food is good and the desserts are to-die-for. Yum!!

You might meet other early arrivers if they are staying at the tour hotel, assuming you are. I usually find people at breakfast may also be on your tour, at least this is my experience.

I loved the Jacquemart-Andre Museum and the tea room is beautiful and the desserts are delicious and worth the calories.

You might enjoy the Rodin Museum which in the vicinity of Napoleon’s Tomb.

Also, check out the Marmottan Museum, it’s a house museum mostly devoted to Monet’s paintings. Very nice!

Hi Randi, you might reach more potential tour members if you post this under "Tips & Trip Reports, Rick Steves Tours". This is a great tour and it sounds like you're ready to hit the ground running! Have fun!

I would definitely reach out to other tour members in the ways suggested. Definitely don't count out the couples as being good travel companions.....many of them have been married for a long, loooong time, and are happy to have the other travel companions and not just hang out with each other. Best part of the trips are all the great people that you meet!
