I am traveling to Paris and Amsterdam in October. I will be in Paris Oct. 3-11, and then in Amsterdam until Oct 15. I'm also interested in doing a day trip away from Paris (probably to Versailles). I'd love to connect with other solo travelers who will be in the area in October. Or if you have any tips for a first time solo traveler, please let me know. I've never traveled alone and am feeling nervous about my trip. I'm 26, female. I'd prefer to meet with female travelers.

Hi Erin! I'm assuming your travel dates are solid, but on the off chance they're not, I'll be in Paris September 30 - October 3 (departing the morning or October 3rd). I too am a first time solo traveler - it will be a blast! Good luck!

Hey! I am in Zurich right now, I am also a solo female traveler. I am inter railing throughout Europe and would love to meet up with you. My budget is hostiles or couch surfing which I'm doing right now. If you would like to meet up and travel together that would be great! Plus I'm from Iowa, just south of you :)

I have a tip for a fun way to have some socail time and enjoy a tour.. a bike tour! I totally recommend the Fat Tire Bike tours( google it they have an easy website to look at ) ,, and over the last 5-6 years have taken all of them.. so if interested in a specific one feel free to ask me about it. They have one to Versailles, but also the Paris by Night tour is a hoot too. I met a 25 yr old au pair from Australia who was travelling solo ( as I was, but I am much older, lol ) on the one to Monets Gardens and she really enjoyed it and from chatting to her she also found people to tag along with while staying at hostels( rather then hotels which are more isolating).
Don't be too nervous about Paris, stay central, don't get dead drunk and wander alone at night, watch your purse( wear a money belt and keep passport, atm card and excess cash in it, just a days worth of cash in purse) and you will be fine. I have visited Paris solo many times, and taken my kids alone,, its a pretty safe city as far as personal safety goes, safer then my own at night anyways!
