Crazy Camp? Solo trip - help!

Hey guys :)

So ive been wanting to explore more isolated regions of France that provide more of a localized experience as opposed to a super touristy one. I came across the website Crazy Camps and it seems like exactly what i'm looking for - and at a perfect price. But, i'm wondering if anyone has heard about it or gone on a crazy camp adventure?

If someone wants to maybe give it a whirl with me, i'm looking into the crazy forest dream camp at the end of May. Please, any advice would be helpful! Or have a look at the site and tell me if you think it's legitimate, at least.

Thanks :)

Safe Travels,
Liz

Unfortunately you can't tell if something is legitimate by reading it's website. I couldn't find any reviews of Crazy Camps. There are testimonials on their own website but that doesn't tell you anything.

If you're looking for a true 'nature' experience (clothing optional type), you could certainly contact them and ask them if there are any unbiased reviews you could read, or prior members you could talk to in order to make a decision about this group.

I'm not a prude but 'running naked through the fields' (from one of their testimonials) or group hot tub experiences with a group of strangers would not be my first choice for a vacation. However, I'm a firm believer in 'to each his/her own' and live and let live.

It might be a good idea if you read and became familiar with all of their FAQs.

Nigel, where did you find FAQs, I looked but couldn't find any?

in the tour details right after it mentions that the whole experience is clothing optional, like a footnote, just before it talks about everybody having to participate in everything.

The FAQs are also interesting when it says that it is a one man operation and that all the trips are his holidays with others along.

Couldn't resist reading the camp description--not my cup of tea but if you go I do hope you post a trip report for us.

Everybody has to participate in everything, but no one knows what the activities are or the level of activity, and it's in the woods fifty kilometers to the closest rail line.... I would have been tempted in my twenties, but only with at least one friend along. Safe travels to you too, and please do write a trip report if you attend. ;)

Ah thank you all so much for your replies! Where do you see that you have to participate in everything? What I got from the site was that you're free to live as you please - and that even comes down to if you want to wear clothes or not! I'd be down for group activities though, because that's a bit what the camping experience is all about.

Any chance someone wants to give it a shot?!?!! 😬😬😬😬

Looked at a random detail for a "camp" and read

Everybody is expected to participate in the group life at the end of
the day and in the evening.

I also noticed that the person running these has only done 19 previously.

At the end of the day is different.
I skimmed it initially and didn't re-read to fact check when I copied from what Nigel had written. My bad.

Still, check on insurance, medical attention at the camp, and other stuff people my "advanced" age think about ;)

France is very strict licensing organizations and businesses. This person should have some sort of official statue registered as a business or a non-profit (association in French), in which case he's licensed, insured, and has a paper trail. If not....
