First time in Europe, taking Rick's Tour but have those days on my own, looking for a travel buddy, prefer a non-smoker. I'd appreciate any suggestions of reasoanble and safe places to stay and eat while there.

For suggestions on lodging and restaurants in Amsterdam and Paris, you could post your request on the "To the West" part of this forum. You will get lots of replies there. If you haven't already done so, pick up the Rick Steves' tour books for those cities. He has a lot of lodging/restaurant ideas. You can also go to the "Graffiti Wall" listed at the top of the screen and check out the topic "Share your feedback for all of Rick Steves' Guidebooks"Feedback". Here you will find opinions and suggestions for hotels/restaurants in both cities. It's a wealth of info.
