Zoom Mtg for Jan. 3: Coeur d'Alene/Spokane Travel Group - open to others

We historically have set up a Zoom meeting instead of our local bakery meet up for our January meetings due to snow/ice that typically come in Coeur d’Alene or the surrounding region in early January. So, if you’ve wanted to put some faces to names, or discuss anything fun related to travel, we keep this Zoom meeting agenda open & casual. Pam may have a velvet red cookie in hand, and I might use one of my Christmas Market mugs! Leslie, Judy, Cathy & John, Brenda & others, along with some of our locals who moved to the Seattle area can welcome you, too!

I’m sending this out early to give people time to respond by sending your email to my PM. I will send out the meeting email a few days before New Years. We meet at 10:00am Pacific Time.

Jean, I would like to join your zoom and talk travel. We don’t have a regular group here in NY and most of my friends are not travelers.
I will PM you my email.

I would like to participate. Will send my email.

Would like to talk some about the in person get together end of September. Really hoping to be able to do it.

Jean, count me in! I will be babysitting my grandkids that weekend but I'll just give them free rein on their screens and they'll be happy. 😂

Hi Bostonphil7, let’s keep the September in-person meet up out of scope for this Zoom call. Our group isn’t ready to talk about specifics about that weekend, (date is set & close hotel name has been shared), and I don’t want visitors to this Zoom to get confused.

Recent trips & ones upcoming in a month or two, travel hints, travel Christmas purchases or gifts, specific European country questions, etc. are what we will be casually sharing in this January Zoom.

Nigel, you might be disappointed with no snow or ice. My grass is the greenest is been all year and I may have to have a grandson come and mow it. Hope you can join us

Nigel, I'd been hoping to wake up to pictures of heavy snow this morning, as there is a white out blizzard, do not travel warning for 4 feet (a mere 4 feet) of snow in 3 days on the I90 and US2 cross state routes in WA.
The snowstorm is not forecast to reach Idaho.
But I've just looked at the traffic cameras and so far the rain has not yet turned to snow as forecast. I know how much the snow is needed, so far a deeply disappointing winter for the 3rd year on the row.

I've only done Zoom once, and apparently it's changed a lot since then. I go to several Zoom meetings a week, and there is a weekly one I would love to participate in, but I'm not getting up at 2am UK time each Thursday morning to do so. So I always see them as recorded meetings or ones converted to Facebook.

I would love to join. Unfortunately (?) I will be in Texas and that is the day of my MIL’s birthday party. I’ll likely be too busy helping to set things up because the party starts at 2:00 Central Time.

"My grass is the greenest is been all year and I may have to have a grandson come and mow it."

Isn't this bizarre? The fake Christmas deer in the front yard seem to be grazing in a sea of green. My brother surprised the REAL deer yesterday morning who were busy grazing and staring at the white lawn ornament deer, lol.

Big windstorm this morning with winds of 60+ mph in the CdA and Spokane area and winds of up to 99mph nearby. Our neighborhood in CdA looks like a little island of Power ON in a sea of Power OFF. Looking at the map I believe Jean may be without power this morning so hope it is on soon!

Hahaha....well, technically they are not "my" cookies BUT the bakery where we usually meet has delicious red velvet cookies that I love!! AND when they have them on our meeting day I always get one. IF I had the recipe I would certainly share!

Cathy, do you need me to mail you some cookies from Woops?

Hi everyone, I just sent out the meeting Zoom link, so let me know if you didn’t receive it. Looking forward to seeing you this Saturday!

Also, I’m capping the # of participants to those who replied before this response - just to keep it manageable & simple. Thanks!

Oh well, with the chaos of Christmas I haven't had time to look at how on earth to make Zoom work. No matter- that might free me up for a possible unique rail replacement bus service to Greystoke Church (near Penrith), where I have missed two quinquennial inspection visits in 2017 and 2022.
Rail replacement buses are sometimes a good thing.

Just a reminder for those who signed up earlier that we will begin tomorrow at 10am Pacific Time, and you should have received your email with the Zoom link. ihave the free version which requires us to take a short break mid-way through our meeting - a good chance to have a second cup of coffee.

See you virtually tomorrow! And yes, there’s snow on the ground in my neighborhood.

I'm sorry I didn't make it back for the second part.

Ambulance crew was here and took Carol to hospital and when it quietened down you were finished.

Nigel, I'm sorry to hear about Carol. Is she okay?

Jean, thank you for hosting! I had a great time and it was really fun to see everyone, especially those who I don't often see. Hopefully, I will be at the live one in September!

Thanks for asking - she is home but still needs to return for various other tests and procedures. Sleeping in our bed is a vast improvement.

So sorry all hasn't been well on your end, Nigel, Happy to hear that Carol is home, and it was a delight have been able to see your face even for part of the meeting!

Actually, it was so much fun to see ALL the faces that I've only had names for, and to hear your voices. Jean, thanks so much for setting it up!
