St. Louis Area Travel Group On Hold

I want to update everyone to let you know our St Louis Travel group still exists, but we are on hold for a few months. This past summer and fall it worked great to meet in a park, but planning that for the next few months doesn’t really work. We still can’t meet indoors. So lets optimistically plan to be back early next year, and by then I hope we will all be able to have some trips planned to talk about!

Hi, Karen:

I feel your pain. As you know, we've had to do the same thing in Tulsa. It's not just the weather, although that's a factor. The virus is just exploding in our area, and we can't justify meeting for the next couple of months, even though it's usually the high spot of my month.

Here's hoping things settle down, and we can get back to communing with our travel friends, sharing our tips, experiences, plans, and dreams.

If only others in this country had your good sense.

This is definitely not the time to gather indoors. Good call putting your meetings on hold. In Sacramento we’ve been doing Zoom meetings, but I know they aren’t for everyone. Stay safe.

Thanks everyone. We were on hold also from March through June, then met in a park well spaced out July through October. I’m looking forward to when this is well under control and we can meet as usual again. Most of our group isn’t too excited about Zoom meetings, but if any others are, look for the international zoom meetings that Andrea organizes each month. They are really fun.

Karen, thanks for the shout out. I’ve really enjoyed connecting with people from around the U.S. and other countries. So far we’ve had people from Canada, Mexico, England, Germany, France, Israel and the Netherlands. It’s always interesting to talk to folks from such diverse places.

I look forward to seeing everyone again. Hopefully more folks will be getting vaccinated. I've had both of my shots. Until then I will continue with the Monday Night Travel from the RS website and will follow my other various bloggers!

Me too, Kathy. I am really enjoying Monday Night Travel. I also am “traveling” with several bloggers and out of work tour guides who are doing walking tours and travel talks. Maybe in another couple of months we will be able to meet outside again at least, if not inside. I’m not eligible yet for the vaccine.
