Spontaneous Floating Frankfurt Meeting (no specific date)

If you are coming to Frankfurt, traveling through on a long layover, or are going to be in a near-by town, let us know and we can plan a spontaneous get-together. I am happy to travel to other towns if I know ahead of time. Having met many of the people on this forum, it has become a rather enjoyable hobby.

So, post your plans and let's have a "traveling" meeting. (no Panera Bread here, so we don't have to pay those steep fees the other meetings are stuck with)

Jo, similarly, if you happen to be driving thru N. Idaho/Eastern Washington let us know and we will gather up a special group! No Panera here either, lol.

We are looking forward to your next meeting at the Sacramento Panera. And if you find yourself in the area at a time that doesn't correspond with a meeting I would gladly meet up with you anyway!

I am bringing this back up to the top in case there are some people who haven't seen this yet. Now that it is tourist season and everyone is coming over, I look forward to meeting some of you for a "traveling, non-Panera Bread meeting."

Ok, the first official Spontaneous Floating Frankfurt Meeting was held today, with Jo, Nigel, and wife in attendance. I

Instead of Panera Bread, we held our meeting in the Hexen Stubb in Büdingen. We had a short relaxed tour around the Büdingen, and then went to Gelnhausen, Barbarossas' city. Both towns are chock full of Half-Timbered buildings, but only Büdingen still has its' wall. The church in Gelnhausen though, is a stunning gem, built in 1220. Trip Report coming soon.

So, let me know if you are coming this way and the next meeting will take place.

We'll be in Berlin the first part of August. Any chance you'll be there or near there during that time?

We had a really good time there today.

Thanks for organising this floating meeting, Jo.

That church with its tryptic altar and screen is something else - I've never seen anything like it.

Anybody who will be there the second weekend in August might enjoy another unusual thing - an Organ and Alp Horn concert.

The Floating Meeting may have a change of venue. We will be in the Munich area from 6-8 July. We are going on a small group tour to Regensburg on the 7th to learn about the Jewish history of the city and see some ruins they uncovered not long ago and then with the same guide, joining in a small group tour to Dachau on the 8th, so if anyone else is in the area and wants to join us, send me a message.
