Seattle/Puget Sound travel group?

Hello! I am curious of if there are ever meet ups in the Seattle area, or if there is much interest in getting a group up and running. Cheers!

I went to that first Seattle area RS gathering organized by Lola. I live in Hawaii for 7 or 8 months of the year but am usually back in Seattle sometime from May to August and over the holidays and would be more than happy to help out in any way I could to get this rolling again when I am in town.

I would be interested but it would be traffic-dependent for me as I'm down in Tacoma and can't handle the I-5 traffic anymore. If it was an hour I could take public transit up to Seattle, I would think a meeting would be fun.

I PM'd Meg to express my interest.

I wonder if the Rick Steves folks in Edmonds would be willing to let us meet there, maybe once a month on Saturday morning? If not, perhaps meeting at a library branch or a bookstore with a good travel section and tables.

Edmonds would be too far north for us from south of Seattle. Although I write my location as Seattle it's not so. I do it because most people don't know where Puyallup is. I would suggest Downtown Seattle. Easy enough to get there by public transport. Last time we had it in Starbucks.

Isn't "Puyallup" the password to tell whose local and whose not? We've lived in Steilacoom for 30+ years, but spend part of the year following drier weather. I'm interested to see what happens with this.

Hello, all! I am glad to see there is some interest in a travel group. Now, to decide on a location! The travel center would be interesting, though they do have a class there every Saturday morning (I believe starting around 10:30). That might be tough for people from the south end, however. I'm not too far from Seattle, though if possible, I'd prefer to avoid downtown. Is there some place that has parking and good access to public transportation? There's a good chance my (mellow) baby will tag along, so I tend to drive places these days.

I'm not so sure I am the best organizer, but I can certainly try!

Well, I more or less expected people from Puget Sound area to know where Puyallup is. But everywhere else they say: Spell it.
Meg, so question is: where? when? how often? It seems to me that Downtown Seattle has some good points. It's about equal distance from southern and northern suburbs and bedroom communities. It's relatively easy to get there by public transport from almost everywhere in this area. When? Let's listen to suggestions. I start: any day is good for me. Not too early in the morning so those of us who don't live in Seattle proper can get there comfortably. How often? Once or twice a month? Anybody else wants to contribute suggestions?

We're probably not going to find one place that is good for both car commuters and those from outside the city using public transportation.

One option might be 3rd Place Books in Ravenna. They have a cafe with a few large tables. For those using public transportation, it would be a bus ride from downtown, though.

I work weekdays, but in general I can meet evenings and weekends. I both live and work within the city of Seattle.
